Lebanon, Missouri
in 1818. He taught school in
Louisiana

Mississippi

, and then moved to Texas and moved back into Missouri in
1841
. He served as a U.S. Representative from Missouri between
1863
and
1868
. He served as the governor between
1869
and
1871
