Jos Eulogio Grate OrmaecheaJos Eulogio Grate Ormaechea (b. September 20, 1944) was a Spanish footballer. He was born in Sarand, Buenos Aires, but qualified as Spanish due to being brought up in Eibar. He began his career in the small Basque side, Indachu, where he was quickly spotted and signed by Atltico de Madrid. On his arrival, the team had just won the league and he had a quick education playing alongside players such as Luis Aragons, Adelardo, Irureta, Collar, and Ufarte. This team went from strength to strength, becoming one of the greatest and most successful Atltico sides, especially of recent years. He played 241 games, scoring 109 goals. With the Spanish national side, he dbuted on October 22, 1967, against Czechoslovakia. His final game was on April 17, 1975 against Romania. Unfortunately, this period was a low-point for Spanish football, and the national team failed to qualify for either of the European or World Cups in his time. This meant that his talents were not seen on as wide a stage as they might. He only played 18 times for the national side, in which he scored 5 goals. Honours with Atltico de Madrid - Three times maximum scorer in the Spanish Primera Divisin, 1968, 69 and 70 with 14, 16 and 17 goals respectively.
