John Wrottesley, 2Nd Baron Wrottesley

John Wrottesley, 2nd Baron Wrottesley (August 5 1798October 27 1867) was a British astronomer. He succeeded his father as Baron Wrottesley on March 16 1841. He was a founding member of the Royal Astronomical Society and served as its president from 18411842. He was president of the Royal Society from 18541858. He won the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1839 (he was not yet a baron at the time). Wrottesley crater on the Moon is named after him.
