John Painter

John Painter, born September 20, 1888 in Tennessee, died March 1, 2001 aged 112 years 162 days also in Tennessee. At his death he was (posthumously) recognized as the world's oldest man, as a result of the USA's SSA supercentenarian study. Although the 1920 census suggested he was born in 1891, the earlier 1900 census used the Sept 1888 birthdate. Based on the rules, the oldest document takes precendence.
