John Olver

John Walter Olver (born September 3 1936), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1991, representing the 1st District of Massachusetts (map). He was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, was educated at Tufts University (PhD 1956) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and was a faculty member at the Franklin Technical Institute in Joplin, Missouri, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Massachusetts. He was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the Massachusetts Senate before entering the House.
