John Banister

John Banister (December 26, 1734September 30, 1788) was an American lawyer from Petersburg, Virginia. He was educated at Middle Temple in London, England. He served in the House of Burgesses (17651775), Continental Congress in 1778, and Virginia House of Delegates (17761777 and 17811783). During the Revolutionary War, he was a Major and Lt. Colonel in the Virginia militia. Banister is buried in the family plot at Hatcher's Run, the family estate in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.
