Johannes Rudbeckius

Johannes Rudbeckius or Johannes Rudbeck (1581-1646), bishop at Vsters, Sweden, from 1619 until his death. In 1623 he founded the first gymnasium, a school of secondary education, in Vsters. Together with his second wife Magnalena Hising, they had the son Olaus Rudbeckius, sr. He is also famously quoted as having called what is now called the Dala Horse "the Devil's plaything."
