Johann Woldemar Janssen

Johann Woldemar Jannsen (1819 - 1890) was an Estonian journalist, publisher and leader of the national cultural movement. He wrote the text of the national anthem of Estonia and founded in 1857 the newspaper Postimees. He initiated the song festival tradition in Estonia, first of which was held in 1969.
