Joetsu Line
The
Joetsu Line
is a major rail line in
Japan
. Part of the
East Japan Railway Company
(JR East) system, it runs from
Takasaki
, in
Gunma Prefecture
to Miyauchi Station in
Nagaoka, Niigata
, in
Niigata Prefecture
, linking the northwestern
Kanto region
and the
Koshinetsu
part of the
Chubu region
. The
2004 Chuetsu Earthquake
seriously damaged the Joetsu Line, causing JR East to close it for about two months.
