joachim (dict)

Joachim

Joachim was a king of Judah in the Old Testament. The name means "Established by Yahweh". See Jehoiakim. In Catholic and Orthodox tradition, Saint Joachim was the husband of Saint Anne and the father of the Virgin Mary. He appears in the apocryphal Gospel of James, though the Bible itself does not name either of Mary's parents.
