JkaraThis Bulletin Board System (BBS) has been developed from scratch in Java with the intention of becoming an open source successor of KaraNet that has become unmaintainable due to compilation problems after a compiler update. After a hardware failure in July 16, 2004 the old system has become unusable and a still buggy version of JKara has been brought to life. Major issues of this first version have been several bugs all over the system as well as performance considerations (the system has been awfully slow). Further, some features of the former version have not been implemented. The sudden shift of importance (it has become the only running system) as well as the fact, that several problems have not occured on the test system but turned out with real-world workload motivated the development team to spend a substantial part of their leisure time into improving the whole system.
