Jean Raspail (born 5 July 1925 at Chemill-sur-Dme (Indre-et-Loire) is a French author, traveler and explorer In 1950-52, he led the Tierra del FuegoAlaska car trek and in 1954, the French research expedition to the land of the Incas. In 1981, his novel, Moi, Antoine de Tounens, roi de Patagonie (I, Antoine de Tounens, King of Patagonia), won the Grand Prix de Roman (grand prize for a novel) from the Acadmie franaise. He earned enormous controversy with his book The Camp of the Saints (1973) in which he predicted the overwhelming of Western civilization in a tidal wave of Third World immigration. His critics accuse him of right-wing extremism on account of the views expressed in the book but he himself considers himself a conservative opponent of unrestricted mass immigration. The book is popular among immigration reductionists, and is available in reprint from John Tanton's The Social Contract Press. He lives in Paris.
