Jean Claude Eugne Pclet

Jean Claude Eugne Pclet (February 10, 1793 - December 6, 1857) was a French physicist. He was born in Besanon, France. Pclet became one of the first scholars of the cole Normale at Paris with Gay-Lussac and Dulong being his teachers. In 1816, he was elected professor at the Collge de Marseille and taught physical sciences there until 1827. Being nominated matre de confrences at the cole Normale, he returned to Paris and was elected professor at the cole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures. The Pclet number is named after him.
