City of Dreadful Night
(1874). He was born in
Port-Glasgow
. In London he was a friend of
Charles Bradlaugh
. He used the
pseudonym
Bysshe Vanolis
, and is often distinguished from the earlier
James Thomson
by use of the B.V. after the name. That is as in
Bysshe
for
Shelley
and
Vanolis
from
Novalis
