James Joseph Sweeney

James Joseph Sweeney (June 19, 1898-June 19, 1968) was the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu in the United States. He was born in San Francisco, California where he was later ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 1925. On May 20, 1941, he was appointed to become the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu. He was ordained to the episcopacy on July 25 of that year. He died on his birthday in 1968.
