Jalaf Ibn Rashid

Lieutenant of Bahlul Ibn Marzuq, the rebel leader of the Zaragoza region who conquered Huesca in 800. Bahlul was defeated by troops sent by the Spanish wali, and fled to Pallars. He was killed by Jalaf Ibn Rashid, who was recompensed by the government of Huesca and Barbitanya (region of Barbastro), where he reconstructed the ciy of Barbastro at the cite of the old Roman city of Barbastur. Jalaf had owned Huesca for about sixty years (802-862) when he was transferred to the Banu Qasi, and was named governor Musa ben Galindo. Their family (Banu Jalaf) followed as rulers in Barbitanya for about 20 more years.
