Jakob Maria Mierscheid

Jakob Maria Mierscheid (born March 1, 1933) has been a fictitious politician in the German Bundestag since December 11th, 1979. He was second leader of the middle man Committee of the Bundestag in 1981 and 1982. The Mierscheid-hoax was introduced in the Weimar age of Germany's parliamentarism by the social democrats for evading payment of bills in a restaurant. He is now a widely known curiosity within the German Bundestag. In 1983 he published in the Vorwrts magazine the still valid Mierscheid Law, special research results for elections and relations to the German industrial production. He was born in Morbach/Hunsrck, a very rural constituency. He is Catholic and member of the SPD.
