Jaime Humberto Hermosillo

Jaime Humberto Hermosillo (b. January 22, 1942) is a Mexican film director, often compared to Spain's Pedro Almodvar. Born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, in central Mexico, Hermosillo's films often explore the hypocrisy of middle-class Mexican values. He is also openly gay and has explored such themes in his work. However, the high quality of his work keeps these themes from being too offsetting. He worked with Gabriel Garca Mrquez on "Mary My Dearest" in 1979 and "The Summer of Miss Forbes" in 1988. Hermosillo currently teaches filmmaking at the University of Guadalajara and has recently collaborated with his students on various projects.
