Jade (Mortal Kombat Character)Jade is a character in the video game series of Mortal Kombat. About Jade Jade was introduced in Mortal Kombat II as a secret, non-playable character. A female assassin clad in jade-coloured clothes, with extreme agility, speed and combat furor. She was hard to get, and even harder to defeat. This Amazon-type character was later explored in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, as a ninja in the employ of Shao Kahn, torn between loyalty to her childhood friend (Kitana) or loyalty to her king (Shao Kahn). Her weapons of choice included boomerangs and a bo staff. Eventually, Jade revealed herself to be a force for the side of light. Storyline It is assumed Jade was the back-up plan of Shao Kahn during the second tournament, in case his own warriors would fail to withstand the fury and anger of the Earthrealm warriors. Jade's true origins, so it is revealed in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, lie not in Outworld, but Edenia, and she is a childhood friend of Kitana's, like her friend forced into service under the emperor. During Kahn's invasion of Earth, Jade is sent to bring back the lost princess, who escaped the death penalty after murdering her evil twin Mileena. Eventually, Jade chooses to betray her emperor and help Kitana and the Earth warriors in bringing down Shao Kahn. In doing so, they manage to free Edenia from the grip of Outworld's madness. Jade returns in after Onaga's return to power in Outworld. Movie appearance In contrast to the game, where Jade has an African skin-tone and ultimately fights for good, Jade appears in as a distinctly Asian-styled character who remains loyal to Shao Kahn until her death. After failing to seduce and kill Liu Kang, Shao Kahn himself has her swallowed by a gargoyle in his palace. There is also no indication in the movie that Jade and Kitana know each other from the past.
