Jacobo Timmerman

Jacobo ben Nathan Timerman (January 6, 1923 - November 11, 1999) was a publisher and author. During the 1970s, he published a newspaper in Argentina that publicized human rights violations by the Argentine government, in particular calling attention to the disappearances of people during that administration's so-called "Dirty War". As a result, he was arrested, and during interrogations he was subjected to electric shock treatments, beatings, and solitary confinement. He chronicled his experiences in his 1981 book, Prisoner Without a Name, Cell Without a Number. After his release, he emigrated to Israel. His son, Hctor Timerman, is also an author, currently serving as Argentina's ambassador to the United States. Timerman, Jacobo Timerman, Jacobo Timerman, Jacobo
