Jackpot, Nevada

Jackpot, Nevada is a small, unincorporated town located in the United States in the state of Nevada. Located on the northernmost point of U.S. Highway 93 in northeast Nevada, Jackpot has been a popular gambling stop for those living in southern Idaho for many years. The town was founded on April 7, 1959. The town has a permanent population of around 1,500 and is located in Elko County. Jackpot has six main hotels and motels with a built-in casino: Barton's Club 93, Cactus Pete's Resort Casino, Four Jacks Hotel & Casino, West Star Hotel & Casino, The Horshu Hotel & Casino, and the Covered Wagon Motel. Cactus Pete's is the largest hotel in Jackpot with 300 guest rooms. Due to its ties to southern Idaho, Jackpot is in the Mountain Time Zone.

Physical Geography

Jackpot, Nevada is located at 41.7 N, 115.2 W longitude at an elevation of 5,213 feet (1,588.92 meters), just short of being one mile above sea level. Jackpot is located in the Great Basin on the banks of Salmon Falls Creek. Jackpot is located about 50 miles northeast of the unincorporated town of Jarbidge and the Jarbidge Wilderness; from Jackpot, a traveler cannot enter the Jarbidge Wilderness area without first entering Idaho before reentering Nevada.
