Jack Hittright Jack Hitt is an American author. He is a contributing editor to Harper's, GQ, Lingua Franca, and This American Life. He also frequently appears in places like the New York Times Magazine and Outside Magazine. In 1990, he received the Livingston Award for national coverage. He currently lives in New Haven, Connecticut. Hitt was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. He got his start in journalism as editor of the Paperclip, the magazine of Porter-Gaud School's first through sixth grade, where, according to his biography, he published "some of the finest haiku penned by well-off pre-teens in all of South Carolina's lowcountry".
