Jachin Due

  Cosmic Era glossary
In the Gundam Seed universe Jachin Due is a former resource satellite that was converted to a military space fortress by ZAFT forces. When the Earth Alliance ordered its 5th and 6th fleets, stationed on the moon, to attack PLANT on April 17, C.E. 70, they were intercepted by ZAFT forces from the resource satellite. What ensued was the First Battle of Jachin Due. It was in the aftermath of this battle that the PLANT Supreme Council decided to formally convert the entire asteroid of Jachin Due into a defensive base. Jachin Due is perfectly suited for this purpose. The size of Jachin Due allows for ample construction of command bays, service docks, and so on. It is right in the vicinity of PLANT, so any force bent on attacking PLANT will have to deal with the asteroid Jachin Due first. The walls of Jachin Due are so thick and strong that it can support a massive amount of punishment any Earth Alliance fleet could deal short of a nuclear attack. The word Jachin is the name of one of the mighty pillars of the Biblical Solomon's Temple, and it is truly a pillar supporting PLANT. Later, Jachin Due was the base of operations for the GENESIS project.
