Iwami Province

Iwami (石見国; -no kuni) was an old province of Japan in the area that is today the western part of Shimane prefecture. Iwami bordered on Aki, Bingo, Izumo, Nagato, and Suo provinces. The ancient provincial capital was at modern Hamada. During the Sengoku period it was a fief of the Mori clan of neighboring Aki.
