Isandlwana

Isandlwana is an isolated hill in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. On January 22, 1879, Isandlwana was the site of the Battle of Isandlwana, where the Zulus routed a contingent of British soldiers in the first engagement of the Anglo-Zulu War. Approximatly 1,200 British soldiers were killed, the entire column. They were up against over 20,000 Zulu warriors. Also, the regimental colours were lost.
