Geography Iroquois is located at 44°21'59" North, 97°51'0" West (44.366437, -97.850095). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²). None of the area is covered with water. Iroquois has been assigned the ZIP code 57353 and the FIPS place code 32020. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 278 people, 113 households, and 77 families residing in the city. The population density is 202.5/km² (521.0/mi²). There are 121 housing units at an average density of 88.1/km² (226.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.68% White, 0.00% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.44% from other races, and 2.16% from two or more races. 2.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 113 households out of which 31.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% are married couples living together, 10.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.0% are non-families. 31.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.06. In the city the population is spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 85.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.2 males. The median income for a household in the city is $25,625, and the median income for a family is $36,250. Males have a median income of $25,417 versus $16,806 for females.
