By-Elections

• November 27, 1973: Following the election of Erskine Childers as President Fianna Fil lose their seat in Monaghan to Fine Gael.
• November 13, 1974: In Cork North East Fianna Fil retains its seat.
• March 4, 1975: In Galway North East Fianna Fil retains its seat following the death of the sitting TD. On the same day in Galway West Mire Geoghegan-Quinn is elected, retaining the seat for Fianna Fil.
• November 12, 1975: In Mayo West Fine Gael retains its seat when Enda Kenny is elected following the death of his father.
• June 10, 1976: In Donegal North East Fianna Fil loses its seat to Independent Fianna Fil. On the same day the 100th by-election takes place. The death of Noel Lemass causes Fianna Fil to lose its seat in Dublin South West to the Labour Party.
