Intoxication

Intoxication is an altered mental and physical state caused by ingesting alcoholic beverages or other psychoactive drugs. Sometimes, people in such altered states act irresponsibly because of reduced inhibitions. The term intoxication is typically used in legal proceedings when some crime has been commited during a state of intoxication. See also drunkenness, addiction.
