International Container BureauThe International Container Bureau is usually better know under its acronym BIC for Bureau International des conteneurs, its original French name. It is an organisation whose goal is to unite any type of corporation or government unit or independent organism having anything to do with Container transport and multi modal freight handling. It has several publications and is responsible for the BIC codes which constitute the standard ISO standard 6346 coding system for every container owner and container operating company. It was originally established in 1933 and stopped its operations during World War II to resume them in 1948. Its headquarters are located in Paris in France.
