Ingold is a census-designated place located in Sampson County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 484.

Geography

Ingold is located at 34°49'58" North, 78°20'54" West (34.832805, -78.348345). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²). 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.19% is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 484 people, 163 households, and 118 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 36.2/km² (93.8/mi²). There are 181 housing units at an average density of 13.5/km² (35.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 39.05% White, 26.86% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 33.26% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. 41.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 163 households out of which 36.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% are married couples living together, 14.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.0% are non-families. 24.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.97 and the average family size is 3.48. In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 14.9% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 103.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.8 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $46,429, and the median income for a family is $55,000. Males have a median income of $30,469 versus $30,972 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $15,032. 16.7% of the population and 14.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 18.1% of those under the age of 18 and 44.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
