Inga Artamonova

Inga Grigorevna Artamonova (Russian:Инга Григорьевна Артамонова) (August 29, 1936 January 4, 1966) was a Soviet/Russian world champion ice skater. Born in Moscow, Artamonova won the world all-around speed skating championship in 1957, 1958, 1962, and was second in 1963 and 1964 before capturing her fourth world championship in 1965. Over her career, Artamonova established of a number of world records, including three in one year when, in 1962, she set new marks in the 500, 1500, and 3000 meter events. Artamonova also was five times Absolute USSR Champion and 26 times USSR Champion on the separate distances. Married, her name is sometimes recorded as Inga Voronina-Artamonova. Inga Artamonova was killed by her husband at the age of 29, she was interred in the Vagankovskoye Cemetery in Moscow.
