Indus (Constellation)

Indus, (Abbreviation Ind, genitive Indi), the (American) Indian, is a southern constellation introduced by Johann Bayer. It is supposed to represent an American Indian. Epsilon Indi is one of the closest stars, approximately 11.82 light years away.

History

Since Indus was introduced in the 17th century, and lies in the south, it was not known to classical or early cultures, and so they produced no mythology concerning it.
