Indian Renaming Controversy

Renaming Controversy There has been considerable debate in India in the recent past regarding the renaming (to regional or pan-Indian names) of cities and various locations in cities all over India. This debate is not unique to India (it is present in Canada) but given that its post-colonial period is short and that it is extremely multi-cultural, it is particularly energetic and divisive. There are many arguments put forward on both sides and the intensity of the debate has often varied depending on the specific circumstances, the parties initiating the action etc.
