Indian PrawnIndian prawn (Penaeus indicus), also called white prawn or Indian white shrimp, is one of the major commercial prawn species of the world. It is found in the Indo-West Pacific from eastern and south-eastern Africa, through Malaysia and Indonesia to southern China and northern Australia. It is a marine decapod with estuarine juveniles. The Indian prawn prefers mud or sandy mud at depths of 2 to 90 m. It grows to 228 mm and has a life span of 18 months. It is commonly used in shrimp farming. The common name white shrimp may also refer to other species.
