In the Zone
(2003)
In the Zone is Britney Spears' fourth album, released on November 18, 2003. Spears co-wrote seven of the tracks. The first single was "Me Against the Music" featuring Madonna.

Chart success

In the Zone reached number one on the Billboard 200 on release in 2003 and number two in the Canadian charts. While "Me Against the Music" only reached No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, it was a smash in the rest of the world reaching number one on the European charts, Ireland, Australia, Spain and Denmark and number two in the UK, and Canada. Overall, it charted on 32 different charts around the world. The follow up single "Toxic", co-written by Cathy Dennis, became a worldwide hit and charted on over 30 different charts throughout the world. It reached number one in the UK and Australia as well as the American Top 40, where it spent four consectutive weeks at the top. In 2005, Spears won her first Grammy Award for "Toxic" in the category of Best Dance Recording. The third single, "Everytime", a piano ballad, was also very successful, reaching the top of the UK charts in June 2004; the fourth single, "Outrageous", was only released in the U.S. There was no video for the song due to the severe knee injury Spears suffered while filming the video. The album has sold close to three million copies in the U.S. and over six million worldwide. The album is widely considered Spears' most overtly sexual to date. For instance, the song "Touch of My Hand" refers to masturbation.
