Impulse Airlines

Impulse Airlines was an airline that serviced the eastern seaboard of Australia. It was one of the first low-cost carrier in Australia, modelled on the basic services offered by airlines such as Ryanair and Southwest. Followed by rival Virgin Blue, it brought upon a substantial restructuring of the Australian airline industry. The new low cost entrants contributed to the destruction of a historic duopoly between Qantas and Ansett, and arguably the downfall of the later. The airline was acquired by Qantas in 2001, and its operations were subsequently integrated into Qantas branding. The company structure was later recycled to form Jetstar Airways in 2004.
