Immersive Learning

Immersive learning is a system of complete immersion in a new subject in order to completely gain skills in the subject. The most extreme perhaps is immersive learning of a new language in which the learner subjects himself to 3 days non stop bombardment of the language by native speakers. The subject does not sleep and probably eats very little or keeps going on sugar water and caffeine with 10 minute rest periods per hour. After 40 hours or so the brain will switch over to the new language and you will be speaking with a reasonable proficiency. The next 30-odd hours then go towards fluency and fully integrating the gains of the session. There are indeed parallels with brainwashing and this must be done in a safe environment with capable and trustworthy speakers. As they will be needing sleep you need 5-7 of them. Immersive learning also refers to less extreme but none the less 'bombardment style' learning of a new topic over the course of a few weeks or months. In any event the idea I believe is to race your brain and overload it such that it collapses into a state of learning by default.
