Illinois State Route 29

right Illinois State Route 29 is a long, two to four-lane state road that runs south from U.S. Highway 6 at Spring Valley to U.S. Highway 51 and Illinois State Route 16 at Pana. While Interstate 39 has largely replaced this general alignment to its east, Illinois 29 still parallels the Illinois River on the western bank, running through Peoria and Springfield, two cities Interstate 39 does not run through. In Peoria, this road is named Galena Road from the north until it crosses U.S. Highway 150 and merges with U.S. Highway 24; from there the road is named Adams Street. South of downtown Peoria, Illinois 29 turns from U.S. 24 onto the Cedar Street Bridge, where it crosses the Illinois River to East Peoria with Illinois State Route 8 and Illinois State Route 116. This highway is about 180 miles long (290 km).
