Ignacio De La Llave

Ignacio de la Llave (August 26, 1818-1863) was a general and the governor of the Mexican state of Veracruz between 1857 and 1860. He was born in Orizaba, Veracruz. He participated in the Mexican-American War, in the 1851 revolution against Santa Anna, in the Guerra de Tres Aos (against the conservatives), and on the nationalist side against the emperor Maximilian of Mexico. He died as a result of battle injuries sustained in 1863.
There is a municipality of Ignacio de la Llave in Veracruz state, named after him; prior to 1932, it was known as San Cristbal de la Llave. Also, in his honor, Veracruz state was, for a time (1863-?) known as Veracruz-Llave.
