Igil

An igil is a two-stringed Tuvan musical instrument (huur), played by bowing the strings. Igil usually made of solid piece of pine (or another soft wood) - totally neck and sounding board. Its strings, same as bow string, made of horse hair wisp (or nylon), which makes its original sound. Top of the board may be covered with skin or thin wood plate. Igil playing techniques are - by nails or by fingertips, both don't require pressing strings to the neck. Igil has no frets. See also: Throat_singing, topshur, morin huur
