Idella Moore

Idella Moore is the founder of, and a leader of 4ERA.org, an internet based organization working to have the number of states which have enacted the Equal Rights Amendment rise from 35 to at least 38, in order that the amendment may reach the status of law. It is the goal 4ERA.org to persuade Congress to extend the ratification deadline again if new states ratify. The number of ratifying states has remained constant at 35 since 1979, but some states declining to ratify have become more friendly to the ERA in the last twenty-five years since ratifications stopped increasing. The Illinois House has ratified the ERA in 2004, and Senate ratification there is possible by the end of the 2003-2004 legislative session. Ms. Moore heads the Georgia State chapter of 4ERA.org, even as she does work for the ERA at a national level. A former resident of Florida, she was active in the unsuccessful effort to get Florida to ratify the ERA in 1982. In starting 4ERA.org, she was greatly encouraged by Congress' decision to let the ratification of the 27th Amendment--restricting Congressional pay raises--extend for a period of about 200 years.
