Hybrid Graphics

Hybrid Graphics Ltd

Hybrid Graphics Ltd is an independent developer of graphics technology for consumer devices. Hybrid was founded in 1994, and is based in Helsinki, Finland. Until the year 2000, Hybrid was best known for its middleware solutions for computer games. Its most important product of that time was the OpenGL based 3D graphics library SurRender 3D (1996-2000). The year 2000 saw the launch of the dPVS (2000-) visibility optimization system for 3D environments. dPVS is currently used in many of the leading MMORPGs for visibility computation. Hybrid has more recently shifted its focus from PCs and game consoles towards developing graphics technology for wireless devices. It currently provides implementations of wireless graphics APIs such as OpenGL ES, M3G (JSR 184) and OpenVG and participates heavily in wireless graphics standardisation. It is an active member of several JSRs and a promoter member of the Khronos Group.
