Hugh J. Gallen

Hugh J. Gallen (1924 December 29 1982) was the governor of the U.S. state of New Hampshire from 1978 until his death. He was a Democrat. He served for 2 two-year terms as governor and did not run for reelection in 1982. In November 1982 he became seriously ill and was unable to function. Forced to yield his powers to the presidents of the Senate, who became acting governors, he died a few days before the inauguration of his successor, John H. Sununu.
