Hron
The
Hron
(German:
Gran
, Hungarian:
Garam
) is a 298 km long left tributary of the
Danube
in
Slovakia
. It is the main river of central and southern Slovakia. Its source is located in the Lower
Tatra mountains
and it pours into the Danube near
Štrovo
and
Esztergom
. Two big central Slovak towns are situated at the Hron:
Bansk Bystrica
and
Zvolen
.
