Hounslow Town Tube Station

Hounslow Town Station was originally built at the western terminus of the Hounslow & Metropolitan Railway Company from Hounslow to Acton in early 1883, but only a year later a direct line to Hounslow Barracks (today: Hounslow West, Piccadilly Line) was opened which left Hounslow Town on a short branch spur. In 1886 a new station on the Hounslow Barracks line called Heston-Hounslow was opened and the service to Hounslow Town was withdrawn. 1906 saw the re-opening of Hounslow Town when the LU District Line took over the line but its days were to be limited as in May 1909 a new Hounslow Town station on the main line (Now Hounslow East, Piccadilly Line) opened and the old station closed for good. Between 1933 and 1964 District and Picadilly Lines operated on the Hounslow Barracks Line until District Services were withdrawn. Today the line has been extended into Heathrow Airport.
