Horace Lambert Alexander Hood

Admiral the Honourable Horace Lambert Alexander Hood (187031 May 1916) was a young and respected admiral in World War I. He was the great-great-grandson of Admiral Samuel Hood, 1st Viscount Hood. Hood joined the Royal Navy in 1883 serving on Temeraire, and Hyacinth. In 1889, as a midshipman, he served on Calliope during the Samoan Hurricane. In World War I, Hood took part in the defence of Flanders and the Battle of the Yser. He commanded the Third Battlecruiser Squadron of Sir John Jellicoe's Grand Fleet. He died along with all but six of the crew of his flagship Invincible when she exploded at the Battle of Jutland.
