Hopfgarten is a small, quaint uncommercialised skiing village in the Tirol. It is perfect for all levels of skier with a variety of slopes ranging from black slopes for expert skiers and nursery slopes for beginners complete with a brilliant ski school.There are also many neighbouring town with an extended variety of slopes including Itter a perfect slope for those early skiing lessons. Even if your not a keen skier, or just want to experience something different, Hopfgarten has plenty to offer. A trip on the gondola is worth doing if just for the view at the top. You can even parapent of the top if you choose. An awesome experience if you pluck up the courage! For the non-thrill-seekers there are also plenty of options. You can visit one of the typical Austrian restaurants such as the Gasthof Traube where you can try schnitzel, streudel or noodles. If you fancy a bit of culture, the church is well worth a visit, with its wonderful ceiling. There are plenty of apres-ski options too. Theres the Silver Bullet, a small bar which holds karaoke every wednesday and o2 a small nightclub. and if stay in gasthof Schoneck (a guesthouse run by Contiki 18-35 holidays) theres even more arranged activities such as schnappy hour. If you fancy getting out of Hopfgarten for a day, the Kitzbuhel, Innsbruck and Salzburg are only a short journey away where you can experience more Austrian culture, including locations used in the sound of music (Salzburg) the swarovski art exhibition (near Innsbruck) and the little coffee shops of Kitzbuhel where you can sample the local lemonade (Almdudler). and dont forgot to go on a sleigh ride complete with schnapps. It'll be one of the best laughs you can have in Austria!!! All in all Hopfgarten is a fantastic place ideal for both a skiing and not-so-skiing orientated holiday!
