Hopetoun, Victoria

Hopetoun with a population of 700, is a town which serves as the major service centre for the Southern Mallee area of Victoria, Australia. It is in the Yarriambiack Shire local government area. The town is named after Lord Hopetoun, Victorian Governor and Australias first Governor-General. Hopetoun is situated 400 km north-west of Melbourne on the Henty Highway. Local attractions include Wyperfeld National Park, Yarriambiac Creek and Lake Corrong.
