Honey Bunny

Honey Bunny is a cartoon character owned by Warner Bros., although she has never appeared in a single animated short. A female rabbit, she was designed by Robert McKimson as the girlfriend of Bugs Bunny for merchandising purposes in the late 1950s. Through the 1960s and 1970s Honey was a regular fixture in the Looney Tunes Gold Key comic books, usually co-starring with Bugs. She proved to be a worthy foil for Bugs, slightly more sensitive yet possessed with a strong inner courage and intelligence. A more contemporary version of Honey was still in regular use in various Looney Tunes merchandise through the 1980s and early 1990s. However, the release of the 1996 film Space Jam introduced a new female rabbit character, Lola Bunny, who completely supplanted Honey both as a merchandising figure and as Bugs' sweetheart. Lola's popularity waned in the late 1990s, but Honey has not yet returned to her regular status, and it is unknown as to whether she will ever be seen again.
