Home InvasionHome invasion is the crime of breaking and entering into an occupied dwelling. The crime is considered a first degree felony in most U.S. jurisdictions. Home invasion differs from burglary. Burglary is illegal entry into any occupied or unoccupied building, not necessarily a residential dwelling. The intent or outcome of home invasion is often robbery or rape. Home invaders may follow their victims home, knock on the door to gain entry, or lie in wait after breaking and entering.
